Lo Chan-Peng

Lo Chan Peng was born in 1983 in Taiwan and currently works between Los Angeles and Taipei. His practice centers on oil painting, merging classical realist technique with Eastern spiritual philosophy. He explores themes such as death, faith, memory, and history, conveyed through restrained yet powerful brushwork. His paintings have been recognized as a reconstruction of Eastern visual language within a contemporary framework. Lo’s work is neither a reproduction of traditional Eastern aesthetics nor a mere extension of Western academic technique. Instead, it embodies a hybrid visual language—rooted in Western systems of classical oil painting, anatomy, and composition, while deeply informed by Eastern meditations on stillness, silence, and transcendence. He has participated in artist residencies in the U.S. and Germany, and his exhibitions span across Europe, North America, and Asia. His works are in the collections of major museums, cultural institutions, and private collectors. In 2023, he was granted an EB-1A Extraordinary Ability immigrant status by the United States government, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to contemporary art and global cultural impact.
