Sun-Mi

Sun-Mi (aka Pamplemouze) is a contemporary artist based in Los Angeles, renowned for her paintings that feature naive characters, particularly young girls, trapped in an endless cycle of internal conflict. Through her work within the Faux Naïf movement, she explores the multifaceted nature of human existence. Her distinctive visual language serves as a conduit for expressing her inner emotions and struggles, inviting viewers to engage with the deeper layers of her personal experiences.

Sun-Mi earned her BFA in Illustration from MICA, where she honed the unique style that reflects her ongoing transformation. Her paintings function as a personal diary, capturing the nuanced emotional landscapes of her inner world. Drawing inspiration from the playful realms of cartoons and children’s books, she creates a “controlled mess” style that merges complexity and innocence to convey hidden conflicts and unspoken emotions.

Sun-Mi’s artwork has been displayed at many renowned art fairs and exhibitions all over the world. Her work appeared at prominent events including Art Context Miami and Art Central Hong Kong. Her work has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions at international galleries and she will have an upcoming solo exhibition at Corey Helford Gallery this year. Her artwork has been included in group exhibitions across multiple international cities including Shanghai, Tokyo, and Hong Kong.
